Birdsville Race Club Vice President Gary Brook joins the show for the first of a trilogy of Birdsville Cup podcasts to chat about the unique and iconic two-day Birdsville race meeting which is due to get underway on Friday 2 September.
“The journey is part of it” explains Gary as spectators travel from all over Australia to see the Birdsville Cup, known as the Melbourne Cup of the outback. A town with a population of about 100 becomes up to 6,000 on race days.
