Training Day: Building Blocks for Your Perfect Program
Description
Simply put, the difference between training versus exercise is that training is dedicated, disciplined, planned to support our goals; exercise is fun, active, and generally unstructured.
To that end, we can acknowledge that often what we lack in realizing our fitness and health dreams is a clear vision that shapes a clear path. I always encourage questions to kickstart this process, most importantly: who do I want to be?
In this episode, I discuss:
- Why do we call it "training"?
- Preparation = Fitness
- Blending the Art with the Practice, according to Bruce Lee
- "Do less, better" & "Strength has a greater purpose"
- It's all an experiment - the greatest, in fact!
- Guiding Goals and questions
- GPP = General Physical Preparedness
- The W.O.W. Factor
- Timing and evaluating to avoid burnout
- Working In and listening to the Pain Teacher
- Make it FUN!
Some helpful resources include:
- Dan John's Strength Standards for Men & Women
- XPT Life - Mobile App and site
- How To Eliminate Pain (4 Essentials) with Paul Chek - YouTube
