The cash bail process in the U.S. has been under fire the last few years. The U.S. is one of the last nations in the world to utilize this process. The cash bail system was said to be designed to allow those accused of a crime to be released from jail during the pre-trial phase to allow them to prepare for their case. In many instances the bail amounts are set high and those who can not afford to pay those amounts sit in jail until their case is heard. In this episode we will review the cash bail process in the U.S., the commercial cash bail industry and the arguments surrounding it.
