Description
Jim is joined by former producer for ESPN's Baseball Tonight and the creator of the website "Cooperstown Cred", Chris Bodig, to break down down the hall of fame candidacy of former MLB first baseman Keith Hernandez. First, Jim and Chris discuss Hernandez's defensive prowess and how Pete Rose once compared bunting against Hernandez to driving the lane against Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell (3:58). Next, they discuss his performance in the 1986 playoffs, go all the way back to the 1920s to find Hernandez's HOF twin, and talk through the significance of Hernandez winning 11 Gold Gloves (16:45). Finally, Jim and Chris rank Hernandez among the best first baseman of his era (43:29), before both stating whether or not they believe he deserves a plaque in Cooperstown (58:50).
