With fear, you cannot please God, who gave us a Spirit of power. Men are even afraid of women today! Fearful people don't love their fathers.
BOND Archive Sunday Service, September 22, 2013: Jesse Lee Peterson has us read 2 Timothy 1: 6-11, which says that God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power, love, and self-control. Jesse gives examples of fear in society, including men's fear of women! (Some were paranoid to sign the "Second Emancipation Proclamation" for whites, freeing them to speak honestly about race.) We talk about anti-bullying politics, and Jesse tells a story. Most people don't fear God. Fear made a home in you by resenting your mother and not loving your father.
