Stop Living in Defeat | Chase Gardner
Description
Do you ever feel spiritually beat up, like you’re in a constant battle? The truth is, you are in a battle – for your soul. In this message, Chase Gardner teaches us about the obstacles that trip us up in life and reminds us that we have the authority to be the person God wants us to be.
Message Notes:
God can do more than we can imagine in our lives even when we fail and feel defeated.
Acts 3:1-2 (NLT) A man, who was born lame, was left outside the temple to beg.
Acts 3:3 (NLT) He asked Peter and John for money.
Acts 3:4-6a (NLT) Peter told the man he didn’t have any silver or gold.
Acts 3:6b-8 (NLT) Peter told the man that he had something different to offer, and it was healing in the name of Jesus Christ.
God doesn’t deal in small change but new creation.
Acts 3:9-10 (NLT) The people were astounded to see the man who was lame walking and praising God.
The “right hand” is a common metaphor in the Bible for power and authority.
- Exodus 15:6 (NLT)
- Deuteronomy 33:2 (NLT)
- Luke 22:69 (NLT)
- Acts 3:16 (NLT)
- Luke 9:1-2 (NLT)
- Luke 10:17-20 (NLT)
Through history, we see that God gave Adam and Eve the authority to rule the things of earth. Genesis 1:26 (KJB)
- They gave up that authority to Satan.
When Jesus rose from the grave, He won back that authority Adam and Eve had lost.
Through faith in Jesus, we have spiritual authority, but not physical authority, again. Hebrews 2:8 (ESV)
The battles we have faced in our lives have already been won in Jesus.
We can have freedom from our sin if we step forward into the belief that God has the power to defeat our sin. Are we willing to fight for our faith? To believe God can change us?
Psalm 18:31-32, 34-36, 39 (NLT)
“I will refuse to be anything less than who God has created me to be.”
