Episode #130--Simple, Clear Direction"--1:1 Conversation with Cristofer Pereya & Erin Monnin, Authors, Catholic Leadership in Civil Society

Season 13 Episode 130

The latest Say Yes to Holiness podcast 1:1 Conversation is with Cristofer Pereya and Erin Monnin, Authors of Catholic Leadership for Civil Society: A Practical Guide on Authentic Lay Leadership.

Our conversation was focused upon how we can grow as leaders; the difference lay people can make by embracing their role as leaders in civil society; and the vital role Catholics can play within our society for bringing about positive change.

Cristofer, Erin, and I spoke about their own journey that brought them to write a book about leadership; the Tepeyac Leadership Initiative (TLI); steps that all of us can take to be better leaders, and six areas where Catholic leadership can really make a difference in society today.

With their new book, Catholic Leadership for Civil Society, authors Cristofer Pereyra and Erin Monnin provide a guide to authentic lay Catholic leadership. The book challenges the laity to take on leadership roles in the secular world.

Catholic Leadership is structured to show that lay Catholic leadership is not meant to be lived out within the confines of the Catholic faith-community exclusively, but instead is to serve mainly as a guiding force which illuminates every aspect of secular society with the Truth of the Gospel.

Their book explains why lay Catholic professionals have a unique responsibility and privileged opportunity to influence the world for Christ. It’s not an optional prerogative, but their duty as baptized children of God.

A really important idea we spoke about is that if God has blessed someone with a professional career, then their career must obligatorily become your mission field. But best of all, their book explores specific fields and concrete ways to carry out Catholic leadership for civil society.

My own interest in helping inspire, encourage and support others in becoming exactly who God created them to be--especially as leaders--resulted in a truly fascinating conversation, so I pray that this conversation inspires and encourages you to keep doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to grow into your best selves, especially as a leader.
