"It takes a village to raise a child".  This phrase was commonly used amongst African American people to talk about the responsibility of the community to nurture, raise and protect a child during the years of Segregation associated with Jim Crow.  However, the US Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education, changed this philosophy in very unexpected ways.  

In this episode of 'IN THE KNOW', I talk about the impact of Brown v. Board of Education on the community philosophy of raising a child.
