In the latest episode of The Passing Shot, the tennis podcast by fans, Joel and Kim roundup the past week on tour, which saw World No.1’s Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic claim Italian Open titles in straight sets over Ons Jabeur and Stefanos Tsitsipas respectively.
With Roland Garros just around the corner, Joel and Kim gauge whether both Djokovic and Swiatek are the stand out favourites for the second slam of the season, especially in light of Rafa Nadal struggling with his chronic foot injury and the ongoing dominance of Swiatek over the rest of the tour.
They also discuss the possible lack of ranking points at Wimbledon and LTA grass court events, as the ATP look to redress the ban on Russian and Belarussian players. Joel also asks an interesting mailbag question on the topic of new balls, and they look ahead to the week’s tournaments ahead which sees the return of Daniil Medvedev.
