Description
This week we focus on Thomas Carlyle's 1840 series of lectures "On Heroes, Hero Worship and the Heroic Through The Ages" a treatise on his views of history. Carlyle is an influential but lesser known thinker of the 19th Century but his writing is extremely relevant for today, being the progenitor of the "Great Men of History" Theory and a student of German philosophy, actually being one of the thinkers responsible for bringing these ideas to English speaking audiences.
