Description

Practical Prepping Podcast Episode #217, "Learning as you go, in life, as well as in prepping"

We should strive to improve each time we do something, in all areas of life.
Seek to increase your prepping knowledge regularly
Work to improve our prepping skills each week or each month

Understand That We Will Make Mistakes
Do not fear failure, or making mistakes, unless you are a bomb disposal technician.
Thomas Edison, when questioned about having unsuccessfully tried thousands of times to make a working lightbulb, replied, "I have not failed.... I've just found 10,000 ways that wont work"

Learn from our mistakes
What went right?
What went wrong?
What can we do better next time?

Learn from the mistakes of others
What did they do wrong?
What could they have done to avoid the mistake?

Try doing old things in new ways
We're not reinventing the wheel here, but looking for little improvements in systems or procedures
ie: A better way to inventory your food or your water storage, or rain water collection

Remember that we can learn something from everyone
Sometimes What/How to do
Sometimes What/How not to do

Doing a "hot wash," "post mortem," or "after-action" of an event or practice and make notes
What did we do right?   Or what went right?
What did we do wrong?  Or What went wrong?
Analyze the information
And Develop a plan

Commit to the learning process !
Learn something every day
Read something every day
Books, journals, website, articles, magazines, forums, social
media groups (may have to filter thru the clutter)
Even if only for a few minutes each day
Watch/listen to something once or twice each week
Youtube videos, podcasts, especially while driving

Recapping
Learn as you go
Don't fear mistakes
Figure out what you did right or did wrong
Try doing old things in new ways
     ie: Fire starting, water filtration,
Commit to the learning process

Do these things and you will be light years ahead down the road.
