Bo Williams: Balancing BCAAs in Pigs | Ep. 05
Description
The NRC has recommended amino acid requirements that help us balance our diets accordingly, but we must also pay attention to not only which nutrients are deficient, but also which nutrients are in excess. In today's talk with Clayton Chastain, Bo Williams discusses his study where he increased the amount of other branched chain amino acids fed to pigs when there was excess leucine in the diet to try and ameliorate the negative growth effects that excess leucine has on the pig.
Hadley Williams is a PhD student at Kansas State University studying under Dr. Mike Tokach. He received both his Bachelor's and Masterโs degrees from Iowa State University before continuing his studies at KSU. While at KSU he is working on validating a model on branched chain amino acids on finishing pig growth performance.
