If you want something in this life, write it down and go and get it. Simple as that. In many cases, the journey to get that thing will not be quick or easy but that's the beauty of it.

I recently shared that the big thing, the audacious goal, that I wanted for five years was to qualify for The Boston Marathon. Along the way, I hit many roadblocks. In this episode, I am detailing the process of what the five year journey looked like in addition to life lessons that you will learn while pursuing big things. I share everything from the details behind getting hit by a car during a training run, ending up in the ER during my first Boston qualifying attempt, and the race where it finally happened.

I've learned these lessons as it relates to chasing big things:

  • The best things in life don't come easy, and they shouldn't be easy, or else we've have nothing to strive for.
  • Embrace the road blocks - they're learning blocks. Failure = OPPORTUNITY.
  • Think through all of the fine details. Every turn in the race. Every process in your business. You name it.
  • When the lights come on, know that you're ready to dance because you've prepared.
  • Your demons will always find you, there's no avoiding them. Be ready for them and give them something they can't handle. They'll eventually go away.
  • What you imagine, you create. If you can't see that big thing in your head, how can it be seen in real life?

Tune in to hear how each lesson applies to a part of my journey and how it may apply to a journey that you're on as well!
