This is part one of the conversation I had with PhD candidate from Bath Spa University London, David Burke. David's thesis is that all metal regardless of sub-genre is a philosophy of existentialism that is obsessed with death. Further he believes metal is a response to post capitalism. We discuss, his theories, free will, absurd-ism, and metal's perfect perception of capitalism. And of course we talk about crushing bands!
