In this English lesson, I give a quick biography on Edgar Allan Poe and then I read an adaptation of his short story, "The Tell Tale Heart" in slow, clear, easy to understand English. Â Â
Poe was born in Boston in 1809, and he died in 1849. Some people say Poe "drank himself to death," and I explain that phrase in the lesson. I also explain the term, adaptation, because this is an adaptation of Poe's original "Tell Tale Heart." Â
"The Tale Heart" is about a man who gets nervous about an old man's eye, and he does something so he'll never have to look at that eye again. Â
