Lewis Howes on Releasing Shame Around His Childhood Secret

Season 1 Episode 278 Published 6 years, 5 months ago
Description

If you're thinking about writing an authority building book, and I really hope you are, and you don't want to be counting pennies or checking your book sales all the time, you actually want a book that's going to change your life, I can tell you how. Just go to sevenfigurebooks.com. I'm not trying to capture your email or anything. You can just download this PDF that's going to tell you exactly how to turn an authority building book into revenue, speaking, authority, and no exaggeration, a whole new life.

Professional athlete Lewis Howes and host of the podcast The School of Greatness is also what’s known as lifestyle entrepreneur. The short version of the story is this: sidelined by an injury while playing professional football, Howes had no money, nowhere to live and no interest in doing anything but the sport that he could no longer do.   So he took to his computer and managed to become a social media maven in just a few years, earning millions in the process and then coaching and inspiring many others to do the same.   As it turns out, he was also dealing with having been sexually abused as a child—an event he never shared with anyone until recently. Now he’s doing what he does: telling others about it so that they can be released from their own shame and then become, as he would say, great. In this episode, he and I talk about dreams, passion, finding inspiration and handling adversity, among many other topics.   This is a re-release of one of my most popular episodes from years ago. Enjoy it now that Lewis has become one of the darlings of podcasting—and arguably the world!
