Australian Open Recap - Rafael Nadal is still dangerous, Ash Barty is a servebot?

Season 3 Episode 101 Published 4 years, 5 months ago
Description

Rafael Nadal, winner of the 2022 Australian Open, a double career Grand Slam, and 21 major titles. The lead is his. Is he the player to beat? How close are the next generation of players, those 25 and under, to finally take the lead and become the next greats? When will Medvedev, Tsitsipas, or anyone else finally conquer their doubts and the Big 3 in a Grand Slam final? Andre, Vansh, and Owen discuss tactics, strategies and are probably a little too harsh on Medvedev this time around.

We also discuss the win of Ash Barty Down Under, her home Slam. How important will it turn out to be for her career? Who can defeat her at her best? It looks like Barty came to chage the status quo and establish big serving and slicing as new weapons in the women's game - ones that can be replicated by anyone, regardless of how tall they are. And seriously, very seriously, all players should practice playing against backhand slices far more often. But Collins did a great job in her first Grand Slam final.
