Have you ever heard Yoda's famous quote in Star Wars, "Do or do not, there is no try."?

There's a lot to be said about this simple wisdom. When you use the word try, you are mentally giving yourself an option to fail and not do something that could be very important to you.

Further, using the word try hurts your credibility. I learned this lesson during my first internship over ten years ago when my manager quickly corrected me and gave me a great talk about no longer using the word as it didn't promote action.

Rather than "trying" to do something, say you're going to do it. Say you're getting better, not trying to get better.

Take action, don't give yourself an option.
