96. What Happened to HEAT CULTURE? Miami's Defense Is a Disaster! | Nothing to Hyde: The HEAT File
Description
The Miami Heat have Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, and some of the NBA's most talented individual defenders. So why is their defense falling apart?
Following a 2-5 start and an embarrassing defensive performance against the Los Angeles Lakers, Dave Hyde and Ira Winderman are asking some uncomfortable questions about HEAT CULTURE, effort, leadership, and accountability.
On this week's episode of Nothing to Hyde: The HEAT File, Ira joins Dave from the Heat's West Coast road trip with firsthand observations from the locker room and some pointed criticism of a team that isn't living up to expectations.
On this episode:
Where's the defense? The Heat are surrendering three-pointers at an alarming rate, and even their best defenders aren't getting the job done.
Are the Heat "cheating the game"? Ira questions whether Miami's stars have become complacent and forgotten the fundamentals.
Is Erik Spoelstra part of the problem? Can the championship-winning coach get this team back to playing Heat basketball?
What's wrong with Bam Adebayo? Miami's captain continues to struggle, and Dave and Ira discuss whether he's providing the leadership this roster desperately needs.
Is Giannis doing too much? The superstar is putting up impressive offensive numbers, but is that coming at the expense of his defense?
Where's the accountability? Who will step into the vocal leadership role once occupied by Udonis Haslem?
Can the Heat turn things around? With a long West Coast trip underway, Miami needs victories before its early-season struggles become something much bigger.
Plus, Dave and Ira discuss the new Pat Riley statue, the infamous Dwyane Wade statue, and Ira's adventures on the road covering the Heat.
Nothing to Hyde: The HEAT File features award-winning sports columnist Dave Hyde and longtime Miami Heat beat writer Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, bringing decades of experience, insider perspective, and candid analysis to the Miami Heat conversation.
