Your Identity > Sexual Temptation

Season 7 Episode 5 Published 9 hours ago
Description

Temptation has a way of talking like a verdict: you’re powerless, you’re dirty, you’ll always come back, this is just who you are. That voice gets even louder when the struggle is sexual and the shame feels baked in. Josh sits down with Matt Cline, founder of Restored Ministries (and host of The Exposed Life Show), to challenge the assumption that freedom from pornography and sexual sin starts with trying harder. We take a different starting line: intimacy with Jesus that forms identity, and identity that releases real authority.

We walk through a practical biblical sexuality framework rooted in Genesis 1 and 2. Before sex is even mentioned, God establishes who we are, made in his image and given dominion. Matt explains why modern “sexual identity” thinking often reverses that order, letting urges and experiences define the self, and how that reversal keeps people trapped in fear-based cycles. From Ephesians 5 to Romans 1, we connect the dots between worship, gratitude, and the way the heart gets trained to either steward desire or surrender to it.

What do you do when it’s late, you feel the pull, and your past tells you how this ends? Matt shares a tool that reframes the moment: “naming” temptation. Instead of labeling it as proof you’re weak, you can name it as an opportunity for redemption and transformation.

If you’re working on growing in sexual integrity, pornography addiction recovery, or simply want Jesus-centered sexuality that feels both truthful and hopeful, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review so more people can find it.
