When Christ Becomes Your Life (Colossians 3:1-4)

Season 3 Episode 12 Published 17 hours ago
Description

This episode covers Colossians 3:1-4, where the Apostle Paul reminds believers that following Jesus means more than changing our behavior—it means experiencing an entirely new life in Christ. Because we have been raised with Christ, our hearts, minds, desires, and priorities should reflect the reality of who He is and what He has done.

Before we can experience resurrection life, we must first recognize that we were spiritually dead in our sins. We cannot raise ourselves to life. Only Jesus, through His death and resurrection, can make us alive. And because we now belong to Him, we have the responsibility to intentionally direct our hearts toward things above rather than continually searching for satisfaction in the temporary things of this world.

But what does it practically mean to set our hearts and minds on things above? How do we lead our emotions, desires, thoughts, and decisions instead of allowing them to lead us? Through the power of the Holy Spirit and spiritual disciplines like Scripture, prayer, worship, confession, and Christian community, we learn to allow eternal truths to shape our everyday lives.

Paul also reminds us that our lives are now hidden with Christ in God. Our identity is so closely connected to Jesus that our lives should increasingly reflect His presence. Whether in marriage, parenting, work, relationships, or personal ambitions, Christ is not simply one priority among many—He is our life.

Ultimately, this passage points us toward the glorious promise of Christ's return, when we will appear with Him in glory. Until that day, we are called to live with our hearts directed toward Him, our minds renewed by Him, and every part of our lives centered on Him.

Jesus is not just part of our lives. Jesus is our life.
