If you've watched a relationship with your daughter-in-law quietly unravel, or if the words "no contact" have entered your family's story, you already know how disorienting this kind of grief is. It doesn't look like a death, but it feels like one. And friend, you are not imagining it — there is a real battle going on, and it is bigger than the two of you.
In this episode, I'm sitting down with writer, speaker, and fellow Floridian Christy Mobley of AccidentalMentor.com, who has walked through family estrangement firsthand and come out the other side with hard-won wisdom and deep faith. We talk about why the no-contact trend is more than a cultural moment, what Scripture actually says about the spirit driving it, and how mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships can quietly build resentment when nobody says the hard thing out loud.
Christy shares the letter she wrote to both her daughter-in-laws before they were even married, why owning your part matters even when your intentions were good, and what it really means to surrender a situation to God without giving up. We also talk about the people you need in your corner when the enemy wants to isolate you.
Big takeaway: They can cut off communication with you, but they cannot cut off your line to God. That alone is worth the listen.

Bio:
Christy is a Jacksonville, Florida native. She’s been married to her husband, David, for 43 years. They have 2 sons, two lovely daughter-in-laws and 5 adorable grandchildren. When Christy’s not writing, speaking, mentoring, or chasing grandkids, you can find her playing pickleball or combing the Ponte Vedra Beach shoreline for shark teeth.
She calls herself the accidental mentor because, though she never set out to mentor anyone, many young women have called her their mentor as she has been able to help them navigate through seasons she has already journeyed. Her desire is to see women grow closer to God through biblical study and by helping them see Him at work in their everyday circumstances.
