Episode Details

No. 1 Miami survives a Halloween thriller in Chapel Hill! The Hurricanes beat North Carolina 38–35, improve to 8–0 overall and 6–0 in the ACC, and turn their attention to Notre Dame after answering a fourth-quarter deficit with 14 unanswered points.

Darian Mensah finished 22-of-29 for 274 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Malachi Toney caught seven passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns, while Mark Fletcher Jr. scored three times, broke Miami’s career total-touchdown record and tied Stephen McGuire’s career rushing-touchdown mark. Marquise Lightfoot supplied the defining defensive play: a fourth-quarter strip-sack recovered by Justin Scott, setting up Mensah’s touchdown pass to Toney.

Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber and Alex Donno break down Miami’s championship response, Fletcher’s fourth-down go-ahead touchdown, Javian Mallory’s closing work, Elija Lofton’s key catches and a nerve-racking finish featuring two UNC onside-kick recoveries erased by penalties. We also examine the concerns: Billy Edwards Jr. threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns, Jelani Thurman repeatedly hurt Miami’s coverage, and Bobby Petrino’s offense converted eight of 11 third downs.

The Canes snapped their five-game losing streak against UNC—but what must improve before Notre Dame? Full reaction, final statistics, turning point, player of the game, X-factor and the biggest questions on Locked On Canes POSTCAST.
