Chuck Swindoll has been in ministry for 62 years, but as a boy he could barely put a sentence together. "One of my earliest memories is my mother telling me that I was a mistake," he tells Eric. By junior high he stuttered so badly he wanted to hide. Then Richard Nieme, a drama and speech teacher who had just come to Milby High School in Houston from New York, tapped him on the shoulder at his locker: "Charles, I want you in my debate class." His first response was, "Me?"
