FACES OF DEATH (1978) — REAL DEATH OR HOLLYWOOD DECEPTION?

💀 How much of Faces of Death was real… and how much was staged?

In this episode of Under the Docs, we dive into the infamous 1978 shock documentary Faces of Death, directed by John Alan Schwartz. This controversial film became one of the most notorious underground VHS tapes of the 1980s and ’90s—a movie that seemed like everybody claimed to have seen, but few could forget.

Featuring disturbing scenes involving death, accidents, cultural rituals, and graphic violence, Faces of Death blurred the line between documentary and exploitation cinema. But how much of what we saw was authentic? How much was staged using practical effects? And how did this controversial film build its legendary reputation?

Join Uncle Sean and Paranoid American as we examine the film, separate documented facts from rumors, and question the claims surrounding one of horror history’s most infamous movies.

🔎 The real question is: Were we watching reality, or were we being fooled by the filmmakers?

Watch, listen, and decide for yourself. Welcome to Under the Docs, where we investigate documentaries, challenge narratives, and look beyond the screen.
