In this episode of Music Industry Insights Worldwide: Shaping Equality & Diversity in Music & Entertainment, we speak with Sherrita Duran, the American singer-songwriter whose extraordinary voice and artistic journey have taken her from Fresno, California, to Broadway and the biggest stages across Italy.

With a degree in Opera, Music and Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California, Sherrita spent nine years in New York performing on Broadway before following her artistic calling to Italy, where she has continued to build an international career spanning opera, gospel, soul and jazz.

Her remarkable journey includes performing twice at the Sanremo Festival, backing Italian music legends Adriano Celentano and Irama, and leading the twenty-voice Sherrita Duran Gospel Choir during Zucchero’s World Wild Tour from 2023 to 2025.

We explore the experiences, challenges and creative decisions that have shaped her career, the importance of versatility as an artist, and what it takes to build a lasting musical identity across different genres, cultures and audiences.

We also discuss her albums Time of the Butterfly, Keep Shining and Remnant Song, alongside her latest single, Unbreakable (Reimagined), and the inspiration behind her music.

Join us for a conversation about artistic courage, reinvention, resilience and the power of a voice to connect people across borders.
