When Anger Starts Making Decisions for You

When Anger Starts Making Decisions for You

Published 17 hours ago
Description
Main Scriptures: James 1:19–20 and Ephesians 4:26–27

Have you ever said something in anger that you later wished you could take back?

In Genesis 4:3–8, Cain became angry when God accepted Abel's offering but not his own. God warned Cain about the danger of sin, yet Cain allowed his anger to lead him into murdering his brother. This story shows how dangerous anger becomes when we allow it to control our decisions instead of examining what is happening inside us.

James 1:19–20 teaches believers to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. Ephesians 4:26–27 acknowledges that anger happens but warns against allowing it to lead to sin or giving the devil a foothold. In everyday life, anger can damage friendships, destroy trust in relationships, create conflict within families, and push us to make decisions we later regret. Sometimes, we use anger to hide hurt, embarrassment, rejection, or disappointment.

The lesson is not that you must never feel angry, but that anger must never become your master.
