Description
Hello, passionate cruisers! This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast; I am honored to welcome Evan Pettrey, creator of one of my new favorite YouTube channels, Family at Sea. Evan is an entrepreneur, husband, dad, and the creator behind Family at Sea. Before starting the channel, he spent more than a decade building a different business in Virginia, but a love of travel and curiosity about the cruise industry eventually led him to YouTube. Over the past 2.5 years, Evan has taken more than 50 cruises across nearly every corner of the industry, from budget and mainstream ships to premium and luxury cruise lines, sharing what he learns along the way with a growing community of cruisers. When he’s not traveling, you can find him back home in Virginia with his wife, MacKenzie, their two kids, Kate and Jackson, coaching their sports teams and trying to balance running businesses with being the husband and dad he wants to be.
Evan told me, “What started as a cruise YouTube channel a little over 2½ years ago has somehow turned into more than 50 cruises in that time. In the process, I’ve cruised all 10 major cruise lines in the US plus numerous others, sailed everything from short budget cruises to luxury lines. There are cruise lines I went into expecting to love that disappointed me, others I never expected to enjoy that completely won me over, and plenty of things I believed about cruising 50 cruises ago that I definitely don’t believe anymore. I’ve also had a pretty unusual experience seeing so many different corners of cruising in such a compressed period of time, from Viking and Explora Journeys to Carnival and Margaritaville at Sea, while documenting all of it and building Family at Sea along the way.”
