The Priory of the Orange Tree
Published 1 day, 10 hours ago
Description
Focusing on its introductory materials and opening scene. The narrative begins in the eastern land of Seiiki, where a young woman named Tané discovers a shipwrecked foreigner on a beach during a period of sacred seclusion. Fearing the political and personal consequences of reporting the outsider, who may carry a contagious sickness, she chooses to hide him rather than turn him in. Tané delivers the stranger to Niclays Roos, a cynical surgeon living in the restricted trading post of Orisima, who reluctantly agrees to harbor the trespasser in exchange for silver. The documents also include world-building elements such as detailed maps of various kingdoms, a table of contents divided into six parts, and an author’s note explaining that the fictional setting is inspired by global legends. Overall, the source establishes a high-stakes story of secrecy and cultural collision set against a backdrop of ancient myths and biblical motifs.
