#36: The New Dietary Guidelines: What Women in Perimenopause Need to Know
Description
The new U.S. Dietary Guidelines for 2025–2030 are here, and there are some pretty big changes! We're seeing a greater emphasis on protein, whole foods, and healthy fats, along with changes to recommendations around dairy, carbohydrates, added sugar, and alcohol. Not everyone agrees with these new guidelines, especially when it comes to saturated fats and vegetable oils. So what has actually changed, and what does it mean for women navigating perimenopause and menopause?
In this episode, Jenny breaks down the new dietary guidelines, compares them to the previous recommendations, and shares what women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond should really be paying attention to. With so much conflicting nutrition advice out there, it can be hard to know what you should actually be eating, especially during perimenopause. Jenny shares her perspective on these changes, why nutrition isn't one-size-fits-all, and how making a few simple changes to what you're eating can make a HUGE difference in your energy, mood, and cravings without following another restrictive diet.
