The muscle biopsy came back negative in 2001. It was ordered at Tulane, and it said Gypsy Rose Blanchard's muscles were healthy. Dee Dee Blanchard kept the wheelchair. Over the next four years, she had Gypsy's teeth extracted, her salivary glands removed, and continued the feeding tube, the head shaving, and the Botox injections — all on a child whose medical tests said nothing was wrong. One doctor, Marc Flasterstein, put the diagnosis in writing: Munchausen by proxy. He never called anyone. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed the medical records from Louisiana, and Dee Dee relocated to Springfield, Missouri, with a clean history. Habitat for Humanity built them a house. Make-A-Wish gave Gypsy a trip to Disney World. Rod Blanchard signed paperwork for procedures on a daughter he'd been told was terminally ill.
