Prosecutors allege Matthew Farwell was inside Sandra Birchmore's apartment during the critical time frame. His DNA sits on the ligature as the major contributor. The autopsy revealed a fractured hyoid bone and a severe chest imprint — injuries with no documented parallels in seated self-inflicted cases. Her glasses were set neatly on the bed. The apartment door was locked. The digital contrast is just as stark: Sandra was actively purchasing baby supplies and looking up prenatal vitamins the same day. Farwell was allegedly erasing messages. The FBI recovered over 32,000 texts from his phone that state police never found. The paternity results confirmed the pregnancy was his, and the prosecution's theory centers on the moment Sandra confirmed she was carrying his child and threatened to tell his family. Did investigators find touch DNA, material under her nails, or foreign fibers proving a violent struggle? The defense plans to challenge the federal autopsy. The evidence inside that apartment hasn't cooperated with their version so far.
