Episode 90: The Halloween Massacre of 1992: Colorado vs. Nebraska.
Description
Welcome to GenX Classic Sports, the podcast where we revisit the unforgettable athletes, teams, and moments that shaped our sports memories growing up.
🎃 Halloween, 1992. Two No. 8 teams. One unforgettable afternoon in Lincoln.
On this episode of GenX Classic Sports, we go back to Nebraska's 52–7 demolition of Colorado—a game that featured a future college football legend making his first big statement, Calvin Jones running wild, the Blackshirts holding Colorado to just eight rushing yards, and future Hall of Famer Will Shields pulling off one of the most famous trick plays in Nebraska history: the fumblerooskie.
Add in a bitter Nebraska-Colorado rivalry, a cold Halloween afternoon, and fans tearing down the goalposts, and you've got one of the most memorable college football games of the GenX era. 🎃🏈
