How Did Pope Francis Get Elected?
Description
In 2013, Pope Benedict XVI made history by resigning—the first pope to do so in nearly 600 years—setting off a global media frenzy and reigniting ancient Vatican traditions. As speculation swirled about his reasons, from health issues to internal scandals, the Church faced a turning point. This documentary captures the unprecedented moment when two popes coexisted in the Vatican and a secretive conclave selected a new leader. Against a backdrop of tradition, political intrigue, and global expectation, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio emerged as Pope Francis, the first Jesuit and Latin American pope, ushering in a new era for the Catholic Church.
