Come back to your first love

Bible Reading: Revelation 1:9-2:7

The church in Ephesus was doctrinally serious, hard-working and

persevering. They tested false teachers, endured hardship and refused

to tolerate evil. Yet Jesus had one serious charge against them: they had

abandoned the love they had at first.

The warning is that a church can be faithful to the truth, active in

ministry and strong in discernment, yet lose the love that should be at

the heart of its relationship with Jesus. Jesus calls the church to

remember where it has fallen from, repent and return to the works it did

at first. Otherwise, its lampstand would be removed.
