UN Security Council Resolution 2793, adopted in October 2025, transformed the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support mission into a Gang Suppression Force targeting 5,500 personnel, expected to reach full strength in October 2026. The force is authorized to neutralize and arrest on its own authority, Kenya's MSS ended in spring 2026, and a mandate extension through September 2028 has been proposed.
