Data Centers vs the Power Bill
Published 1 week, 2 days ago
Description
PJM's capacity auction hit a record $329.17 per MW-day, with data centers driving nearly all new peak load, while FERC's April 2026 price collar shields 67 million ratepayers. States are responding with measures including a Texas connection halt, a New York moratorium and new Virginia and Ohio rules, and a bipartisan bill would make large data centers pay full transmission costs, though it is not yet law.
