Days of our Lives spoilers tease that Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) is talking about whether he wants kids, and that could stir up a big piece of his past. Philip already has a biological son from an unplanned situation with Mimi Lockhart (Farah Fath). That baby was adopted out years ago, and there's a real chance Mason Whitfield (Brandon Butler) is that kid.
DOOL spoilers show that Mason arrived in early September as a former Marine studying at Salem University on the GI Bill and volunteering at the hotline overseen by Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall). He first iced out Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis), stunning her and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes), because he blamed her for the apparent suicide of hotline caller Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd). After making peace with Tate Black (Leo Howard), Mason apologized and is now Holly's mentor. Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) also rented him the room above the Brady Pub, which puts Mason right near Philip's mom, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow).
Days of our Lives spoilers reveal that Mason and Philip bonded instantly as fellow Marines. Mason also told Roman he was born in Salem and his family moved away when he was a baby. Back around 2007, Philip and Belle Black (Martha Madison) were doing IVF, but EJ Demera orchestrated a switch so Philip's sperm fertilized Mimi's egg. Surrogate Lauren Chaffee (Lisa Jay) carried the embryo, and Philip and Mimi signed papers to end the pregnancy. Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) then bribed Lauren to deliver, hoping to cash in on a Kiriakis heir.
DOOL spoilers recall that Lauren later abandoned Baby Tyler (Unknown Baby) at the hospital. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve 'Patch' Johnson (Stephen Nichols) fostered him and nicknamed him Pocket. Philip Kiriakis fought for custody at first, then signed away his rights, and his marriage to Belle ended. Pocket's adoptive parents left town with him while he was still a baby, which matches the history Mason described.
Days of our Lives spoilers suggest that the math is close. Tyler would be about 18 or 19, and Mason Whitfield seems to be in his early to mid-20s. A name change could easily explain the rest. Philip just told Joy he isn't ruling out kids, admitted he once pictured having them with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), and noted that Gabby can't have children. He freaked out when Joy told him to pick up little Kelsey, so a grown son might suit him better. A twist like this would also finally explain why Mason came to Salem.
