The Transgressionists and Other Disquieting Works: Five Tales of Weird Fiction
Published 6 days, 10 hours ago
Description
A collection of supernatural and surrealist fiction by the eccentric Italian author Giorgio De Maria. Translated by Ramon Glazov, this volume features two novels and three shorter pieces that blend social commentary with paranormal horror. The introductory text explores De Maria’s life in Turin, a city known for its industrial modernity and hidden occult subcultures, which profoundly influenced his writing. The author's work often examines themes of political violence, psychological instability, and the terrifying ways that terror can hide behind a polite, civil veneer. This collection serves to reintroduce De Maria to a modern audience as a forgotten pioneer of weird fiction. Ultimately, the sources provide both a literary overview of his eerie narratives and a biographical account of his descent into mental illness and religious mania.
