Episode Details

Yours Truly Johnny Dollar presents “The Nick Shurn Matter, Part 1,” originally broadcast on CBS Radio on December 19, 1955. In this first chapter of a five-part serial, Bob Bailey stars as freelance insurance investigator Johnny Dollar. Written by Les Crutchfield and directed by Jack Johnstone, it is commonly cataloged as episode 286.

Sent to New York to investigate a $100,000 life-insurance claim following the shooting of nightclub owner Mel Pryker, Johnny finds suspicion centered on Pryker’s partner, Nick Shurn. A frightened Chez Colette employee may hold the key, and Johnny must locate her before the trail goes cold.

Yours Truly Johnny Dollar presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
