Being Human in the Age of AI: Consciousness, Purpose & What Makes Us Unique | Matthew James Bailey

Season 2 Episode 158 Published 1 week ago
Description

What happens to our understanding of ourselves when machines can hold conversations, create art, and offer guidance on our most personal questions? As artificial intelligence becomes woven into everyday life, how do we preserve our own judgment, creativity, and sense of purpose?

In this episode of Rooted & Wild, Henry Hawk welcomes technology pioneer, inventor, author, and teacher of consciousness Matthew James Bailey for a conversation about artificial intelligence and the human experience.

Bringing together decades of technology leadership and spiritual exploration, Matthew offers his perspective on the relationship between intellect and consciousness, the values shaping AI, and the possibilities—and responsibilities—that come with building increasingly capable machines.

Together, we explore the deeper questions beneath the excitement and uncertainty surrounding AI: what we choose to entrust to technology, where we find meaning, and how we remain active participants in shaping our future.

In this episode, we explore:

• The distinction between artificial intellect, human intelligence, and consciousness
• AI’s relationship to creativity, identity, and our sense of worth
• The importance of discernment, inner wisdom, and personal sovereignty
• Whose values shape artificial intelligence—and why that matters
• Matthew’s vision for ethical AI and its role in human flourishing
• The meeting place of technology, spirituality, and human potential

As we teach machines to do more, what are we being invited to understand more deeply about ourselves?
