ANY.RUN researchers linked 1,258 public sandbox analyses to fake AI campaigns between April 15 and October 5, 2026. Attackers impersonated Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, and other tools through fake downloads, malicious installation commands, shared AI chats, and phishing pages. The campaigns targeted developer credentials, browser sessions, cloud and AI API keys, and business accounts. This report breaks down five attack patterns, key behavioral indicators, MITRE ATT&CK mappings, and practical defenses for security teams, including approved software catalogs, execution controls, sandbox analysis, and threat intelligence.
