Happy Wednesday! It's De'Graft here
with your midweek BBC Newsround bulletin. Coming up
Hi, I'm Rick Riordan and I'm Annabelle Oh
And we're here to answer your questions
about our new book
in the Camp Half-Blood series,
The Wild Zone
and what's distracted this lot
at their football training session
First today on Newsround,
we're visiting these children
who go to a Jewish school
We asked BBC News
reporter Judith Moritz to go along to meet them
because a report has just come out
about the best way to tackle
anti Semitism
in schools in England
Hi, Newsround
《Newsround》
I'm Judith Moritz, a reporter who does news for the BBC
and today I've come to a school in Hertfordshire
near London
and the first thing you notice when you arrive here
are the really big gates
they're here to keep the children safe
they're Jewish children and this is a Jewish school
if you're Jewish maybe you go to a school like this
but if you're not
you might notice that
things here are a little bit different to what
you're used to
let's go inside and find out more
I've found Year 6 in the library
they've agreed to tell me all about life here
Welcome to Newsround
the first thing I want to know
is what is the best thing about coming
to a Jewish school
All the festivals
I really like all the festivals
I really like
Purim, where we all come into the big hall and dress
up
yeah fancy dress yeah
but it's not always fun
being Jewish
开心的
anti semitism means hatred against Jewish people
there's been more of it over the last few years
and even some attacks
so Jewish schools like this have to take extra care
now a new report for the government
is looking at what life's like
for Jewish school children
in England Mr Lewis is the headteacher here
sometimes in a Jewish school
you can feel a little bit anxious
because you might think that people don't always
like you or want to hurt you or harm you
and in most cases that's really not the case
we have special security
we have special gates and we have special
fences and CCTV
to make sure that all of our children feel safe
all of the time
so we are now going to swap teams
so there's a lot in place
but year 6 tell me they're used to it
they don't really notice the extra security anymore
there's always security guards standing by the gate
so as you walk in
they're there to say good morning to you
and then
