Happy Hardware | Blu Putnam, Chief Economist | Oct 21, 2026
Description
Stock Market Today: An absolute heater of an after-hours session Tuesday, sparked by extremely strong guidance from Super Micro Computer (SMCI) and blow-out Q3 earnings and guidance from SpaceX (SPCX) and Elon Musk.
SMCI raised it's next-quarter sales guidance by almost 30%, from around $15 billion to now near $19 billion. Traders scrambled, panicked into AI hardware names like Dell (DELL), SanDisk (SNDK) and Nebius (NBIS).
Tesla (TSLA) shares moved higher despite a bit of a mixed signal on the SpaceX call: during the Q&A section, when asked about combining two of his companies, Musk responded that a merger was "not a certainty."
