Today’s headline news for Canadian IT solution providers:

  • OpenText stakes out its role as the trusted data foundation for enterprise AI: OpenText CEO Ayman Antoun used his keynote at OpenText World 2026 in Orlando on Tuesday to outline a strategy centred on providing the secure, governed enterprise information needed to make artificial intelligence useful in production environments.Rather than attempting to own every layer of the emerging AI technology stack, OpenText is positioning itself as a provider of the trusted data and context connecting enterprise information to AI applications and agents.Antoun argued that the limitations of enterprise data are becoming a major obstacle to AI adoption, suggesting that only about 20 percent of enterprise information is currently usable in agentic AI workflows. His broader argument is that AI models and agents cannot consistently deliver reliable business outcomes without accurate information, appropriate context and strong governance over how that information is accessed and used.

OpenText sees an opportunity to provide that foundation across its existing portfolio of information management, business network, IT operations and cybersecurity technologies.

The approach also relies on partnerships with companies providing complementary capabilities, including AI models, orchestration platforms and .

OpenText’s previously announced partnership with Canadian AI company Cohere illustrates that division of responsibilities: OpenText supplies the enterprise data and context layer, while Cohere provides models and orchestration through its North platform.

For solution providers, the strategy could create opportunities around preparing enterprise data for AI, integrating business systems, implementing governance controls and helping customers move AI projects from experimentation into production.

However, the keynote left questions about how those opportunities will extend across OpenText’s different partner communities, particularly its existing managed services business.

ChannelBuzz.ca is covering OpenText World in Orlando this week, including interviews with OpenText executives and partners examining how the strategy translates into channel opportunities.
