In July 2024, 28-year-old pediatric nurse Mamta Kafle Bhatt disappeared from her home in Manassas Park, Virginia, leaving behind her infant daughter. Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, told police she had left voluntarily, but investigators began questioning his changing accounts.

More than two years later, Naresh is standing trial for first-degree murder, concealing a body, and defiling human remains. Mamta's body has never been recovered.
