FIRST CALL | Auburn Could SHOCK LSU! But Alex Golesh Has One BIG Problem After Beating Georgia!
Description
Auburn football just shocked No. 1 Georgia in Athens, but can Alex Golesh and the Tigers avoid an emotional letdown against Lane Kiffin and LSU? After one of Auburn's biggest victories in years, the challenge now is proving that the Georgia upset wasn't a one-time performance.
On today's Auburn Daily First Call, we break down the biggest concerns heading into Saturday's SEC showdown at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The first concern is Auburn's emotional response.
After overcoming a 14-0 deficit to defeat Georgia 27-24, Auburn suddenly faces a different kind of pressure. The Tigers are no longer simply a team everyone expects to lose.
Can Golesh keep his players focused when expectations begin to rise?
We discuss the importance of veteran leadership from Byrum Brown, Cole Best and Chas Nimrod, along with the potential impact of Xavier Atkins' dismissal on Auburn's locker room.
Then we examine the offensive improvements that helped Auburn upset Georgia.
Brown delivered one of his toughest performances of the season, using his legs to challenge Georgia's defense and giving Auburn the offensive identity it had been missing.
Can Joel Gordon build on that success against LSU without placing too much pressure on his quarterback?
Finally, we examine Auburn's biggest defensive challenge.
Georgia entered last Saturday averaging more than 200 rushing yards per game, but DJ Durkin's defense held the Bulldogs to roughly half that production.
Now Auburn faces another dangerous rushing attack.
LSU is averaging 196 rushing yards per game, and quarterback Sam Leavitt presents an additional threat with his mobility.
We break down why Elijah Melendez and Bryce Diaz will be critical to Auburn's defensive success, how improved run fits changed the Georgia game and whether the Tigers can repeat that performance against LSU.
With LSU ranked No. 18 and Auburn looking to move to 5-2, another victory could completely transform the Tigers' season.
Is Auburn ready to prove the Georgia upset was only the beginning?
