Episode Details

This month on The Wasteland Spotlight, host Shane Conto (The Wasteland Reviewer) is joined by SPDM Crew member and SiftPop contributor Patrice Downing for a spooky-season theme, “Somebody Sees a Ghost”: four ghost movies across more than eight decades of supernatural comedy and romance.

🎬 Films Discussed:

• Topper (1937): directed by Norman Z. McLeod, starring Cary Grant, Constance Bennett and Roland Young, the classic screwball ghost comedy about a stuffy banker haunted by two high-living spirits
• The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947): directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, starring Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison, a romantic ghost story with a celebrated score by Bernard Herrmann
• Blackbeard’s Ghost (1968): the Disney family comedy starring Peter Ustinov, Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette
• Ghost Dogs (2020): a modern entry in the ghost-comedy tradition

The Wasteland Spotlight is a monthly themed film podcast where Shane Conto and a guest pick a theme and four films that match it, covering everything from golden age Hollywood to cult cinema across every era.
