Description
Imagine standing on a frozen Arctic shoreline when a shape emerges through the fog. It’s a ship. No lights. No engine. No crew on deck. Just an abandoned vessel drifting silently through some of the coldest waters on Earth.
You watch it disappear into the mist, never expecting to see it again. But years later, someone spots the same ship. Then someone else. And decades after its crew abandoned it, reports of the mysterious vessel are still coming in.
This isn’t a ghost story. It’s the true story of the SS Baychimo, a cargo ship trapped in Arctic ice in 1931 and left behind by the men who believed they would never see it again.
But the Baychimo didn’t sink. At least, not when everyone expected it to.
For nearly four decades, this abandoned ship reportedly drifted through the Arctic, appearing in unexpected places before vanishing once more.
So how did a ship survive for so long without a crew? Where did it go? And what finally happened to a vessel that seemed impossible to lose?
