Coffee shop brings science to its clientele
Description
Ginger’s Cafe in One Tree Books, recently held a beer tasting event and Dr Fabio Crepaldi, a biologist from Portsmouth University who lives in Petersfield, spoke about how enzymes to cope with alcohol evolved, with examples from the primates he studies.
He speaks to Mike Waddington about how unusual cases - like a treatment for a type of alcohol poisoning with beer, or someone who gets drunk without drinking - and the answer lies in biology, evolution and food.
He is considering a Podcast to explain such things for a general audience and thinks the idea of a talk in a coffee shop really does make a great forum to discuss science.
